Sister In Law (wifes twin) got divorced due to her secret spending and debts, then got herself a rental 'lifestyle flat' she could not afford and couldnt afford to live.
Agreed to put her up for 6 months to help her find her feet and get out of a dark place...
..That turned into nearly five years.
To be fair she was considerate of our space, helped with chores and wasn't a huge burden but in terms of 'time served' it was substantially longer than originally sold.
The main tensions were anytime she spent money (Buying a newer, nicer car than I had springs to mind) when the idea of her living with us was to clear her debts and build a deposit. It was like having a child your own age. The outcome was good though, she has her own place and is better with money and we get on really well.

They are dizygotic or fraternal twins so I couldn't claim mistaken identity.
Only ever had two threesomes in my life, massive hype and total let down as an experience, not my thing at all.

Had a lodger. He was actually a love bloke (was a friend of a friend originally) and was the best houseguest you could hope to have. Sadly it turned out he was an illegal immigrant and got deported.
Had a German acquaintance stay a few days who'd got kicked out of his previous flat for some reason. He ended up staying months. Eventually we kicked him out. He'd still be here otherwise. He then went to work abroad and got in touch years later and asked if he could stay with us again until he found somewhere to live in London. I politely declined.

Next door neighbours about a decade ago... house was rented by a Brazilian woman who then sub letted to other Brazilians - I think everyone except the woman had overstayed on their visas.
The many young women in the house would sunbathe naked in the garden when it was warm. They were good housemates from my perspective.
They all got carted off by immigration police one day. About two days later a whole new load moved in.
